Our teaching philosophy is that accounting and finance should be viewed as more than simply a technical or practice-based discipline. Accordingly, we are committed to examining the subject from broad-based social and management science perspectives while always maintaining a close contact with practice.

This includes recognition of the importance of accounting and finance to processes of management, corporate governance, accountability and regulation and its impact on the functioning of capital markets, social well-being and public policy determination. Our courses are also very international in outlook, which allows students to learn from different cultural contexts and to challenge and develop conventional wisdom.

Students come to understand the significance of behavioural effects, globalisation, governance, and the development and functioning of capital markets, together with the ethical and societal responsibilities of accountants and finance professionals and the organisations in which they work.
